Ernest Ray Clay Jr went home to be with the Lord on Saturday September 3rd , 2022 in Tomball, TX. of
natural causes. He was 61 years old and a longtime resident of Waller, TX.


Graveside services and interment will be 11:00 am Friday, September 9th, in the Plantersville Cemetery with Pastor Art Musgrove officiating.  A celebration of life gathering will follow in the fellowship hall of Waller Baptist Church, 2520 Cherry St., in Waller. 


Ernest was born May 2, 1961 in Hernando, MS to Ernest Ray and Betty Jean McMahon Clay. Ernest attended Pearland High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Tina Charlene Coatney. They married on May 26th , 1979 and began their storybook marriage. They had three children Christina, Kelly, and Ernie. Ernest loved his family and the Lord. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and many other family activities. Ernest was a 2 generation scout leader and role model for his children and grandchildren. Ernest continued in the family business of Masonry. Most of his career he was a masonry foreman. His work can be seen from Waller T.X. to Georgia.


Ernest was proceeded in death by his wife of 34 years Tina Coatney Clay and grandmother Mary Lowery.  He is survived by his mother Betty Clay, his father Ernest Clay Sr, his brother Keith Clay, his sister Sharron White, and his three children Christina Morgan, Kelly Sommerfield and Ernest Clay lll. He also has 7 incredible grandchildren Alton, Clayton, and Arial Morgan of Hockley, TX. And Taylor, Tyler, RJ,
and Alex of Portland, OR. And numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
