Not sure what to say?

Padrinho, I finally did my ancestral pilgrimage to the birthplace of our people, as I told you I would. I said a prayer for you over the ocean, while in Boa Vista. You are so missed. We still speak your name and remember fondly of our visit with you in VA. Thank you for all the love and history you shared. With all my love...

I met Ernie in Newburgh, NY in 1975. He was my first boss and became a life long friend. His goodness, love of life, and his joy in learning new things made him a fascinating human being and a great friend. He will always be remembered by me and my family.

To All Who Knew Ernie Cosa,

HE WAS HERE among us as a gift from God. A walking Griot, historian, with an amazing photographic memory. He knew all of our family's stories and history. He made us proud to be Cape Verdeans. Most of all, He was and will always be my PADRINHO. I loved him like a dad...

To Ernie's children, Jeannie and Johnnie,

I am so happy that I had the time to chit-chat with Ernie in Atlanta last year. He brought back a lot of fun memories of when we stayed up all night (in Lansing, Michigan) talking about the “Point” and of course about who we are as Cape Verdeans. He was a walking book of knowledge on the Cape Verdean culture.

As someone has already stated, Ernie loved his heritage. I hope that his memories have been documented and kept for future...

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO MY COUSIN JOHNIE AND JEAN. I WILL MISS ERNEST BECAUSE HE ALWAYS MADE SURE HE CALL ME NO MATTER WHERE HE WAS JUST TO SEE HOW THE FAMILY WAS AND TALKED ABOUT THE FAMILY. I AM HAPPY WE SPEND SOME TIME WHEN HE WAS IN DETROIT. I LOVE YOU ALL CUZ'S KEEP
IN TOUCH.

To the Costa family: My deepest condolences for your loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Our condolences to the costa family.
We first Met Ernie through our cousin Robert Carew. We lived in a complicated place to get to. We gavedirectionsto Ernie over the phone, and without writing them down, he found us.His inteligence, photographic memory , and his humor will be greatly missed

So sorry to hear of Ernies' passing. I considered him a good friend, although I only did see him in person, once. When he came to California,I had the most pleasant evening with him and Ana.
My friendship with Ernie began at a Cape Verdean forum where we started chatting. Then we started exchanging e mails. He thought I was a man ! For a long time I let him think like that, and it was hillarious when I finaly told him the truth. I will remember him always, as a gentleman, a very inteligent...
