Not sure what to say?

I didn't have Ernie as a math teacher when I was a student at Acalanes, but I did have him as a dear friend when I myself taught Spanish at Acalanes a number of years later. Ernie always brightened my day and made me laugh. He could be SO funny! He even showed up in his convertible with a shovel at my house one Saturday afternoon when my husband and I were digging a trench in the front yard to put in a new water line to the house! He helped us dig! I eventually moved to GA and...

Dear Eva: So sorry to hear about Ernie's passing. So many great memories. Ernie and I against Terry and Ed on the tennis court. I hope you're well.

Dear Eva,

Sadly I just found Ernie's obituary. I am sorry that it took so long to let you know how much my early years as Ernie's high school friend meant to me and how I was saddened to hear of his death. I always wished that we could have continued our relationship, but it seemed that life got in the way. But I always thought of him as a special friend and ALWAYS will.

Regards, Dave Mattei

DeMar was my favorite teacher. He was always so pleasant, greeted everyone with a smile, and made math fun! I always enjoyed his class and his wit. I often think about him when I reflect on my own teaching practices. He taught me so much, not just about math, but about teaching and building relationships with students.

Mr. DeMartini was one of my favorite teachers at Acalanes. He was encouraging, kind, super cool, stylish and had a terrific sense of humor. He was beyond proud of me when I scored in the 97% on my SAT. It was all because of him. He turned a fear of math into a strength.

Sorry for your loss

Ernie was my favorite teacher and no question is the one educator I remember most from my years at Acalanes High School. I was very fortunate to have Mr. D for Geometry. Not only was he a great teacher but he made the subject fun. And Ernie sure had style. I remember he was always very fashionably dressed bold colors, nice bell-bottom slacks, gold chains, and fancy tinted glasses. He sure made a statement, especially with his kind heart and big smile. He was a cool teacher, both inside...
