Woodlawn Funeral Home - Cranston Obituary

DiSAIA, ERNEST O., 85, passed away Saturday September 10, 2016 at Kent Regency, Warwick. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Ernesto O. and Helen E. (DiMuccio) DiSaia. He was the husband of Eva E. (Luciano) DiSaia for 60 years. Mr. DiSaia was a mechanical engineer and was the owner of ICM, Inc. (International Construction Management Corporation). He was Chairman of the Board at Notre Dame Hospital. He served in the US Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. Mr. DiSaia was the founder of the Rhode Island Italian American Sports Hall of Fame and a lifetime member of P.A.P.A. (Portuguese American Police Association) Besides his wife he is survived by three children; Eugene E. DiSaia and wife Christine of Lynn, MA, Ernest M. DiSaia and wife Lisa of Coventry and Elaina Kowalski and husband Donald of Warwick, and grandchildren; Alexander Kowalski, Gregory Kowalski, John DiSaia, Rocco and Bella DiSaia, step-grandchildren Ryan and Heidi Hollis and four step- great-grandchildren, Orion, Brody, Kameron and River. He was the brother of Helen Major of Cranston . His funeral service and VISITATION is Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 12 with a funeral service at 12 noon in "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Ernie, sorry to hear of the passing of your father. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time!

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

On behalf of the entire membership of the Portuguese American Police Association of RI and also as a personal friend of Ernie for many years, I would like to express sincere condolences to the entire DiSaia family.

Ernie was one of those people everyone loved to see walk into a room. He seemed to have a constant smile on his face, a positive can do attitude, and was always a gentleman.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I will miss him so very much,he was such a good man. He has a wonderful wife and family that I had the privilege of getting to know at Kent Regency. I will miss you all.

I will always remember working with Ernie some almost 30 years ago. He was very smart and such a gentle gentleman. I can still smell his aftershave. My deepest sympathies to the entire family.
