Manteo resident Ernest L. Etheridge, 79, of Manteo, died at Outer Banks Hospital, Monday, Feb. 9, 2009. Funeral services will be held at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Saturday at 11 a.m. Twiford's Funeral Home, Manteo, is in charge of arrangements.

What wonderful memories I have of Mr. Etheridge as a student at Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, Virginia. He taught me U. S. Government & helped instill in me my precious rights as a citizen of this great country. He was my SCA advisor and later employed me as a substitute teacher. I am saddened to hear of his passing. May God give you His peace and comfort you.
