OAKLAWN FUNERAL HOME - EDNA Obituary

Ernest R Garcia, Sr. 


Ernest R Garcia, Sr., of Edna, Texas, gained his angel wings on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born in El Campo, Texas on July 1st, 1944, to the late, Emilio and Mary Rodriguez Garcia. 


After marrying his wife of 56 years of marriage, their beautiful lives together filled with love and faith. Ernest was a devoted family man who cherished his time with his children, grandchildren, family members and his beloved friends. Throughout his life, Ernest worked for several grocery stores, but his favorite one was being the assistant manager at Stanley’s where he worked for many years. 


He had a passion for being in the church with his wife Mary, helping out anyway he could.


Ernest is survived by; his daughters, Stephanie Sutherland and Anna Garcia; his twin sons, Ernest Garcia and Fabian Garcia; and his grandchildren, Adriana Garcia, Brandon Garcia (Kristin), Fabian Garcia (Megan), Stephen Salazar (Bethany), Jordan Garcia, Jesse Sanchez, Megan Salazar, Ethan Sutherland, Kayla Garcia, and Nina Garcia; his 8 great-grandchildren, his sister, Gloria Muniz; his brother, Emilio Garcia (Frances) and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, along with his church family.   


He is preceded in death by his wife Mary A. Garcia and his parents, Emilio and Mary R. Garcia.


Pallbearers will be Fabian Garcia, Brandon Garcia, Stephen Salazar, Ethan Sutherland, Ben Gonzales and Anthony Gonzales. Honorary are. Jesse Sanchez, and Jordan Garcia remaining grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 


Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, September 15th, 2025, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at 11:00 am, also in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna.
