I was away in Kentucky visiting my daughter & her family when I heard of Ernie's death, and I was stunned at the news. I am so sorry that I could not be there for his funeral. It would be an honor to stand in respect to his memory along with all the others from his ARCO days. Ernie was one of the finest men I've known, and our association spanned many years. He was bright, energetic, sincere, committed to fairness, and very capable. He had a wonderful calming quality in almost any situation....

I worked with Ernie many years ago when I first started as an engineer at the Channelview Plant in 1974. Many people who also remember Ernie, respond with a smile when they first think of him. I can remember the way Ernie was well respected for his knowledge but even more so for the person he was. I am also encouraged by his faith in Jesus Christ as I heard about his lay ministry in his church.

I have fond memories of Ernie. The highest honor I can pay him is to say "He was a good ole boy"!
And, somehow, I think he would understand.

He was absolutely the best! I had the pleasure of working with Ernie for approximately 10 years. He was the best boss anyone could have ever had. He will be greatly missed not only by his family, but by many co-workers as well. God Bless you Ernie, I know you are in a better place.

I worked with Ernie in the ARCO-Bayport Technical department, and had the privilege of getting to know him first as a capable engineer and a truly decent gentleman, and later as a modest fisherman and a humble Christian. I look forward to seeing Ernie again, when we who by God's grace have received saving faith in Jesus Christ are reunited in His heavenly kingdom!

To The Family of Ernie: Ernie was was such a loving and caring person. His love for all The Jahnke family was shown through the many things he did for us. Most of all his smile, and his hugs will be missed by me. Ernie you will alway be in my heart.

I loved Ernie and was so lucky to have him as a brother-in-law and as a friend. I will miss him so much, but am happy for the times we shared. I have great memories.
