MOUNT ZION – Ernest E. "Ernie" Myers, 77, of Mount Zion passed away at 5:15 a.m. June 28, 2007, in his residence.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Long Creek United Methodist Church, 6960 E. Firehouse Road. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Long Creek United Methodist Church or to St. John's Hospice. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family via e-mail to www.dawson-wikoff.com.

Ernie was born July 17, 1929, in Decatur, the son of Raymond and Marguerite (Camp) Myers. He graduated from Mount Zion High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was awarded the Silver Star for his gallantry in action on Oct. 26, 1951. He was a farmer that farmed in Cerro Gordo, Blue Mound and Findlay until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Long Creek United Methodist Church, 4H Club Leader, Outstanding young farmer in Macon County, and member of the American Legion in Findlay. He married Patricia Williamson on Aug. 27, 1950.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia of Mount Zion; son, Jeff Myers and wife Lianne of Arcola; daughters, Linnie Workman and husband Dale of Long Creek and Kay Roney and husband Lee of Findlay; brother, Richard Myers and wife Joan of Blue Mound; sisters, Mary Merrill of Decatur, Margaret Watkins and husband Bill of Arthur, and Charlotte Mattingly and husband Dale of Columbia; grandchildren, Sarah Robbins and husband Nathan, Bryan Roney, Marcy Workman, Laurie Workman, Alex Myers, Emily Myers, Adam Myers and David Myers; great-grandchild, Haley Jo Robbins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Janeen, brother Dale Myers, and sister Helen Henry.
