I, too, will miss my phone conversations with Ernie, and the warmth and wisdom he imparted. From the time I met him in 1965, when my parents and I moved from New York to California, I had only the highest regard for him. He, Janet, Helene and Joyce welcomed us, and became like family to us.

Janet, you're so lucky to have spent those 66 loving and interesting years with Ernie. May your good memories sustain you. You'll always be in our hearts and thoughts. Shel started...

Ernest will be sorely missed by his friends and family. My mother Hansi Keaton who is 94 herself looked so forward to talking to him on the phone. Whenever Cousin Ernie was in town we all looked forward to hearing his stories about their early life in Germany. Janet, Joyce and Helene are in our thoughts and prayers.

I knew Ernie in the early 1960s when I was a secretary at Great Lakes Carbon Corp., just out of college. A charming and urbane gentleman, Ernie was a pleasure to be around and a fine role model. I know he will be missed.
