Ernest Ferreira Nunes

Ernest Ferreira Nunes, 88 of Crows Landing passed away Saturday, February 25th at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Mr. Nunes was born in Modesto and was a lifelong resident of Crows Landing. He was a farmer for 60 years and enjoyed fishing. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. He was an avid sports fan and was a referee at high school football games for many years. He was member of the Crows Landing Pentecost Society and Crows Landing Lions Club for many years and was awarded the Melvin Jones Award from the Lions Club.

Mr. Nunes is survived by his sons, Tom (Eleanor) Nunes of Crows Landing, Mark (Karen) Nunes of Newman and Tony (Maryann) Nunes of Crows Landing; sister, Marian Taylor of Sacramento; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Nunes and brother, George Nunes.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Monday, March 6th at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 7th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.
