Ernest Torain Sr.

I knew Ernie from our days at CC of Harrisburg days where we played golf together many times. I am watching Ernie's Terps on TV today and for some reason Ernie creeper into my head. I went to Google to check on Ernie and found out he passed away in July, just a few months ago. I am very sad to know Ernie is gone. I was at the Miami High - Baltimore Poly game in 1963. Ernie ran 79 yards for a TD on their first play from scrimmage. Although we wound up 19 - 7 victors, he terrorized us all game long. Great athelete and great heart.

Sad to hear of Ernie´s passing. A great teammate and friend during our days as a Terp. Had the pleasure of seeing him at a few football alumni events and Terp games later in life. Rest in Peace

I enjoyed talking with Ernie at the 50th anniversary of the Orange Bowl Team....I asked him how he got to Poly ... he said he never knew he was fast until he started running away from all the competition....He was a great Teammate...

My heartfelt condolences to the family. I knew 'Chuck' due to the fact that his brother Mitchell was one of my very best friends. I also remember him at Poly, since my first year there was his last. I didn't see him all that often but my memory of him was that he was a really nice person - humble, quiet and classy. So sorry to hear of his passing. RIP Chuck.

Ernie was a good friend and I love to debate him on many fronts. My late wife and I enjoyed Ernie and Elaine's company at many sporting events at Maryland University. Our sons also played sports many years growing up and thru out high school. RIP My Friend

ET was "ET" before there was an ET. I was a teammate of Ernie´s at Maryland. He, I, and many others endured the inglorious merry-go-round of 4 head coaches in 5 years. Not happy times but dreadful and soon-to-forget experiences. However, Ernie always had a smile and contagious aura. Those personal aspects helped me and his other teammates survive those trying times. Great player but a greater man.
