Not sure what to say?

I learned so much working with Ernie in the Parks Department. I helped him moving a house to his property in Bellflower and he stuccoed and plastered the addition I built to my house in Long Beach. Made me a problem solver that had my own vintage home restoration business for over 40 years. RiP and God bless you and your wonderful family.

We want to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Uncle Ernie. We have fond memories of family reunions. We also have to bring up a certain night of coon hunting with Janice, Marilyn and Hubert. They were sure that Arv was going to leave them in the woods as they do while snip hunting. Imagine their surprise when the dog treed the first coon. They ended up with 7 coon for the nights work. PRICELESS!!!
Love and prayers to all of you.

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to the last of my dad's
siblings. We have great memories of his family and him at our family reunions. Love and prayers to all the children and their families.

Eloise Self, niece of Ernie, daughter of Gerald and Lela Vander Plas

Our thoughts are with all of you as you celebrate Ernie's life. Truly he touched all of us in some way. My mother will be very near during this time let her help. Peace be with you.

Bless you all and prayers for your loss. I am the granddaughter of Gerald and Lela Vander Plas, and the daughter of Roy and Ardith Hawley (Vander Plas). I remember vividly the reunions at Spirit Lake, where I was fortunate enough to meet Ernie and his family. I recall him standing in the midst of the "football' team of Vander Plas nephews. We still have the picture in a family scrapbook. His smile was bigger then all of them put together. His passing is truly a great loss, his passing sadly...

The families of Gerald and Lela express our sympathy to you all.

Our deepest sympathy to all the cousins and their families. God promises to be gracious as you recover from this loss.

I would like to express my profound sympathy to all of my cousins in their grief at the passing of their father, my Uncle Ernie. I pray for our Father's comforting Spirit to be with all of you in this time . Tom

My mother Corrie and I would like to extend our condolances to the family of Ernest Vander Plas on his passing.
