Ernest F. Wilkins

New London - Ernest F. Wilkins, 93, of New London, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at the New London Rehabilitation Center in Waterford.

He was born on July 2, 1920, and had been a 1938 graduate of the former Bulkeley School. Ernest joined the U.S. Army during World War II and served in North Africa, Italy, the Pacific Arena, and participated in the liberation of the Philippines.

He graduated with the Class of 1948 from Mitchell College. He then worked at Electric Boat until his retirement.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia Brown of New London.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, in Hallam Chapel at St. James Episcopal Church, 76 Federal St., New London.
