Ernie Reynolds Obituary

Reynolds, Ernie
Ernie Reynolds, an Arizona native who dedicated his life's work to his family operated business, Reynolds Electric, served the community for nearly 40 years. Known as the legendary "Big E", Ernie was born June 27, 1954 and died the day before his 57th birthday. After graduating from West High, he married his "brown eyed girl," Sharon, and relished his life as a family man. Ernie viewed his company not just as a job, but a way to build relationships with others. Past president of IECA, he also served on the Phoenix Building Safety Advisory Board, NFPA and NEC. Big-hearted, Ernie will be remembered as a notorious practical joker, rule-breaker and life-lover who treated friends as family. Preceeded in death by his father Claude Ernest Reynolds, mother Amalia Hidalgo and brother, Del Reynolds. He is survived by his family, Sharon, Benji, Breanna, Alex, and Destin, along with siblings, Jeannie (Tracy), Joe, Bev, JoAnn, Darla and many nieces
and nephews. A memorial service will be held July 5th at 1:00 P.M. at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave. Glendale AZ 85301 with a celebration of life to follow.

I will remember Ernie as a loving, caring, father, & husband. I loved the way Ernie told a story, or some comments he made. Ernie was a business man with an enormous amount of integrity. My heart goes out to you Sharon, as the love you and Ernie had for one another was very apparent. Ernie will be greatly missed.

Ernie was a friend of a friend and the reason why I applied at Hatfield-Reynolds Electric in August of '06. He was the first to greet me in the lobby on his way out to lunch. I only encountered him a few times before he left IES (formally Hatfield-Reynolds Electric). Over the next several years, his name was dropped frequently. I will remember him.

The electrical industry will miss Ernie, as he was a leader in his field. I met Ernie early in my career as an electrical inspector for the City of Phoenix. Ernie was always a pleasure to work with and good hearted. He would greet you with a friendly smile and a welcoming handshake. When Ernie was the IECA president, he presented many of the electrical inspectors with a baseball cap that said “electrical inspector” on the front. He was quite the character. I still have that cap and I will think of Ernie whenever I see it. My thoughts and condolences go out to Ernie’s family - Ernie will be dearly missed!
