Not sure what to say?

I routinely volunteer at TDG during the State Fair and I always look forward to seeing Ernie. He has been such a pleasure to be around and I'll miss him. There aren't adequate words to say how respected he was and what a lovely person he was. I'm sorry to have missed a chance to honor him at the butterfly release. Sincere condolences to his family.

Ernie was such a wonderful person and dear friend. I will always remember his kind ways. I loved him so much. I'm so lucky to have known Him.

Butterflies forever,

Billy W.

Ernie had a great big heart and shared his love of butterflies with everyone he met. He inspired thousands of children and adults to look closer at the natural world. He volunteered for at least 15 years at Texas Discovery Gardens and at the Museum of Natural History and he never missed a party!

We will miss you Ernie. I learned a lot from you besides bridge. One major thing was you taught me how to control my sometimes temper. Thank you for that.
We will always remember you and Love You Ernie. We know God is Blessing you right now. With Love Mary Ann Davis and Tom Stevens

Ernie Ryan touched our lives and left a huge fingerprint on our hearts! We loved him and enjoyed his company immensely. He will be missed.

I think of Mr. Ryan whenever I am in my garden tending to the butterfly plants. I have a special memory of walking along the lagoon at Fair Park with him as we led a school group on a pond exploration and we found a very special beetle of some sort. He was such a nice man plus if I ever go on a game show and need to know what a Lepidopterist is, I will know.

Ernie - Thanks for the years you dedicated to conservation, sharing your passion for butterflies and other insects in countless ways. Very few volunteers were as generous or knowledgeable. We'll all miss you.

As Ernie's daughter-in-law, I had the joy of experiencing his butterfly work and the vast knowledge on the subject. I marveled at his ability to remember what cards were played as many of his friends on the bridge circuit will attest to. He had a mind like a steel trap, even to the end of his life. You couldn't put anything over on him. I will miss him very much.
