Not sure what to say?

great friend and good man! i will miss you erv!

My first USPHS assignment was with the Indian Health Service in Redding, California. There I was tasked with setting up a new district office for environmental health and engineering services. Erv was my first and distant supervisor located at the Area Office in Sacramento, about 160 miles away. As John Steward said, Erv was a great mentor and supervisor, and Erv placed a lot of trust on this recruit. Initially, the office was in my apartment. Later it was moved into a rather dilapidated...

My condolences on the passing of Erv. I had the pleasure of working with him in Alaska. He was always kind, generous and humorous. I fondly remember our discussions regarding birds and birding.

Erv was a wonderful mentor and supervisor. We worked together in the Sacramento CA Indian Health Service Area Office in the mid-80´s. Erv was highly respected both in California, frequently serving as Acting Area Director, and nationally as a public health leader within IHS. He was gracious to Pat and I and frequently invited us to dinner at his home. I will always remember Erv for his wit, humor, and willingness to listen and make positive and helpful suggestions at work.

Erv was a good friend and colleague from our days with HQ Indian Health Service in Rockville. Always, always there to support you and our important Environmental health work. In retirement, Erv was able to visit us on our small farm in rural Maryland and catch up on the "good old days of IHS". I was shocked to hear of his passing and saddened at losing a good friend. RIP Erv

Erv was my supervisor/office chief in Anchorage for several years, but more importantly a great friend. I was on that Tampa golf trip that Ed described and we had a great time. Erv had one atrocious "turtle" hat that no one could pull it off like Erv..he made it an icon. Love ya Erv, God bless!

The Ervinator will be greatly missed. I accompanied Erv on many a golf trip, softball outings, bowling league, and poker nights. Erv was always a fierce competitor. On one trip we flew from Anchorage to Tampa Bay 10 hours straight on a C-130 head phones on to deaden the noice we played cribbage for most of the flight going through 2 decks of cards upon arrival the crew asked if Colonel Moore wanted to have a car and driver ready upon his arrival? But Erv graciously declined and we went on...

My Sympathy to ALL loss is SO hard.

So sorry to hear about Erv always enjoyed completing with him on the golf course and in the bowling alley a true sportsman and gentlemen bless you all family.
