Erwin "Erv" F. Witte, 85, of Fort Wayne died on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Monroeville, he was the son of the late Paul and Clara (Nee. Bohnke) Witte. He was a very active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. The World War II Army veteran retired in 1980 from International Harvester Corp. after 37 years of service and was a member of the Navistar Retiree Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eileen; sons, Dr. Dennis (Marcia) Witte of Lombard, IL, Kenneth (Cynthia) Witte of Fredonia, WI, and Robert (Joyce) Witte of Monument, CO.; grandchildren, Rev. Mark (Sarah) Witte of Monroe, Mich., Chaplain David (Megan) Witte of Little Rock, AR, Katelyn and Matthew Witte both of Fredonia, WI, Sara Witte of Houston, TX, and Rachel (Ryan) Monarch of Rifle, CO; great grandchildren, Luke, Jonah, and Seth Witte all of Monroe, MI, and Milo Witte of Little Rock, AR; and brother, Carl Witte of New Haven. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Hilbert and Paul R. Witte. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Steve Ahlersmeyer officiating. Calling is also 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in the church cemetery with military honors. Preferred memorials are to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Building Fund, St. Peter's Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, or Worship for Shut-ins.
