Esmeralda was a proud graduate of Lyford High School. She was a devoted registered nurse and served 47 faithful years at Valley Baptist Medical Center in pediatrics. Esmeralda was full of life and spent much of her free time traveling the globe, but her favorite place of all was Las Vegas. Esmeralda was a light in many dark times and will be remembered dearly by her loved ones.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 54 years, Homer Ramos. Her memory will live on in her three daughters, Cynthia (Joel) Gonzalez, Christina Ramos, and Celina (Joseph) Ramos; six grandchildren, Jacob Garcia, Julissa Garcia, Sophia Ramos, Joel Garcia, Lucas Ramos, and Devin Ramos; two great-grandchildren, Layla Tienda and Landon Tienda. Her childhood will live on in her two brothers, Gilbert (Jo) Salinas and Alfredo (Mary) Salinas. She is also survived by numerous family members and cherished friends.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Trinity Funeral Chapel in Harlingen. There will be a 7:00 pm rosary the same day that will conclude in the Rio Grande Nurse's Honor Guard performing a Final Call of Duty in honor of Esmeralda. Funeral Service will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harlingen the following day, Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Internment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in La Feria.

Mrs. Ramos always occupied a part in my heart. She was there for me as a brand new nurse graduate. I remember she always had a smile on her face that lit up the room. May her spirit continue in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. To her family: may you find comfort in remembering her. She was a true warrior and a Matriarch. God bless you all.

A beautiful lady inside and out. A wonderful person, nurse and friend. Thank you Mrs. Ramos for your wisdom and laughter. I am blessed to have worked with you. I learned many things from you, both nursing and personal. You were truly a mentor to me. Many blessings to your family.
