Dewey...Upon receiving your note late yesterday I was disheartened - not for Esther because her suffering is now over and she is now in a better place - but because I could not see her at least one last time. The memories of you and her giving me a home-away-from-home while I was going through A&E school at Kessler in the late 40's will be everlasting. She was the sweetest gal I’d ever met and she so happily fried the best speckled trout in the world. I could see why you loved her so much....

Uncle Tom, Jeanne, and TD, I am so sorry that you have lost Aunt Esther. She was someone I always admired and will always remember fondly. Whenever I see purple, especially flowers, I will think of her beauty, laughter, and those sparkling eyes. I know that she and my mother (Lillian Lott Hall) are having a grand time in Eternity now--dancing, laughing, and bossing the angels around. Oh, what a pair of wonderful women. They were amazing. Jim and I just heard of Aunt Esther passing. I know the sadness that comes with losing her, but I also know the peace that she now has. Know that she was a beautiful lady, adored by many, admired by family for her grace and style. We will all miss her and her lively ways. I'm saddened to learn of your Mom's passing. She battled an unrelenting and unforgiving adversary. It is difficult to lose a parent. Sometimes relief provides a bit of comfort as the loved one is no longer suffering. All of you will be in my thoughts these next weeks and months as you travel this well worn path many have traveled.
