Not sure what to say?

Esther Brown was one of the nicest, most open hearted people I have ever had the privilege to meet and know so well. My family lived next to her on Palmer St. in Springfield for over 25 years. She was a caring and heartfelt person and I am a better person for knowing her all of these years. My deepest sympathies to Ken and the rest of her family.

Esther served as Secretary to my sister, Norma Jean Najim....when Norma was International President of Altrusa International Service Club. The two were very close and Norma kept in touch with Esther until Norma's death in March of 07. I know that Norma and Esther are now together again and continuing their close friendship. My sincere sympathy to Esther's family.

I was very sorry to learn of Dr. Brown's passing. I hadn't seen her in a few years, but in the late 1970's, her office was next to mine. I found her to be a very supportive colleague. She was always interested in how I was doing, and how my family was. She was a big supporter of what, was then, SSU.

Esther was a dear friend. She has been missed since she moved from Springfield. Although we worked together for five years at UIS in the Auditorium programs, she continued to share birthdays with me and my husband and kept in touch at other holidays. She loved Michigan sports and the Rose Bowl games. When I returned from Texas to find she had moved I was so sad to miss my dear friend. She purchased one of my paintings many years ago. She loved art, music, her family and gardening when she...

I had the privilege of serving on the Unity Church Board of Trustees with Esther for several years. The words dedication, loyalty, and excellence come to mind when I think of her. At Unity, Esther will always be remembered with love and a smile.

I also had the honor of singing a duet with her several years ago. We had great fun doing it -- Esther, the trained voice, with me, the one who had never had a formal singing lesson.

Godspeed, good friend.

To the family, I met her at Unity and she became a very dear friend, I will miss her very much, some of the things she did and said pop into my mind frequently and are of value. My condolences,

Esther was a valued volunteer at Sangamon Auditorium for many years. When she couldnt get up and down stairs as well, she simply transitioned into a subscriber and was at many performances in her preferred seat. She always arrived early and read a book while her volunteer colleagues prepared, this time, for her entry into the auditorum.
She loved the performing arts and I always enjoyed her engagement and hearty laugh.
What a full life she had; how fortunate I was able to share some of...

Esther will be GREATLY missed! I was working as an RA and eventually an RD at UIS in the Housing Dept where she was our Secretary and MORE :) She was a motherly-figure to me, and I can still picture and hear her laugh that came from the belly to her face, and the "Oh YOU" that followed :) I had not seen Esther in the last two years but surely thought of her often. My heart is sad today for her family, friends, and those that had their lives touched by Esther...I know Heaven is getting...

I knew Ester at UIS, on occasion she helped me with diet and nutrition programs. She was always friendly and helpful, always ready to greet me when we met on campus. She'll be missed.
