Frazier-Mitchell Funeral Service, Inc. - Houston Obituary

On March 26, 1964 in Huntsville, Texas, a beautiful baby girl, Ethel Elaine Green, the eldest of four siblings, was born to Mr. Paul Green Sr., and Mrs. Ethel Louise Green.

Ethel received her education from S.A. Pleasant Elementary, M.C. Reynolds Middle School and graduated from Wheatley High School.  With a zeal for learning, she received an Associate Degree in Computer Technology from Houston Community College.

Being reared in a Christian home, she was baptized and dedicated her life to God’s service.  She was a former member of People’s Hope Church and later united with Hope Faith and Charity Church, pastored by Bishop Henry L. and Althea T. Galloway, where she found joy in the Royal Sisterhood Ministry.

Having a call on her life to preach the Word of God and studying to show herself approved, she was licensed and ordained by her Pastor, Bishop Galloway.  She served tirelessly and relentlessly  in many ministries for the past twenty years until her demise.  She was presently, the Ministerial Alliance Director.

Rev. Ethel Alston, in furthering her religious education, received an Associate, Bachelor, Master and ultimately a Doctoral Degree in Ministry from the Basic Training Development Theological Institute in Houston, Texas.

Rev. Ethel Alston was also the Director and Co Founder of The Positive Project, a nonprofit organization, where she worked diligently alongside her husband, Rev. Willie Alston, while caring for her three children.  She was such a nurturing and devoted mother.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cassia C. Woods; her brothers, Paul Green, Jr., and Lazzell Green; and sister, Lawanda Green.

Her memories will be cherished by her loving husband, Rev. Willie Alston; sons, Tony (LaTarya) and Carrick Green; three grandchildren, Kennedy E. Woods (whom they reared from age 3), Xavier and Morgan Green, and a godchild, Mercedes Crawford; parents, Mr. Odell and Mrs. Ethel Alex; sisters, Mary Alex, Laurie Alex, Jackie Alex and Paula Frank; brothers, Randy Alex, Robin Odell Alex, Melvin Alex and Jerry Lewis; uncles, Leroy Williams, King Bradley and Jimmie Cain; aunts, Patricia Cain, Louise Alex and Barbara Williams; sister in law, Arease Grant.  Also, Sharon Jackson (godmother), Ronald Mapps and a “Community of Family and Friends.”
