Not sure what to say?

We, I mean some of the many women Ethel touched, recently talked about how she influenced each of us. For me, I remember the story of her own mother on hearing the news that women finally got the right to vote being upset because women already did everything and now they would have even more responsibility. That burden that women continue to carry, Ethel eased that burden for all of us and made the world a better place for it. She had the words and guts to not just fight, but to educate. ...

Ethel was our next door neighbor since 1992. We loved her and Jack! She would always send home newspaper clippings of my daughter in sports at Parkland or a family obituary just in case we needed an extra one:) She would send over vases of holly berry at Christmas time too, what a wonderful neighbor. When she fell outside 5 years ago and broke her hip, I got her into her living room and she was so strong she didn't even complain and did not want ot go to the hospital or be a burden, as her...

Ethel was the most tireless supporter for the rights of all women; she could always be counted on for letter writing, lobbying efforts, and marches and demonstrations. She was an early recycler of paper and envelopes too! We will all miss her energy and knowledge, both of which she was always willing to share. I was inspired by working with her when I was leading the local NOW chapter. Her example will keep motivating me for the cause. She will be missed. I offer my deepest sympathy to her...

Ethel was a courageous crusader for her causes and a wonderful, sharing person. I learned so much from her. I am sorry for your loss, but so happy we had 100 years of Ethel Bishop.

I have such fond memories of Ethel. She would call me at home and at the office to discuss an issue that was currently on her mind. I always marveled at her enormous memory and her capacity to learn and to teach--her uncompromising determination to help women and improve the environment. She truly was a giant.

Ethel Bishop was a tireless worker for women’s rights, and had a remarkable memory. During my years with Allentown NOW and as President of Pennsylvania NOW, she was a valuable resource on facts and strategy. She could answer questions on various obscure legislative matters relating to reproductive rights, and could tell you how each legislator voted – not only on bills and amendments, but also on the procedural motions. Her memory was like a filing cabinet. Sometimes you waited patiently (or...

Ethel was a real champion for women's rights and protecting the environment. The Lehigh Valley has lost a remarkable and very caring person.
