Not sure what to say?

I join my brother and sister in thanking all who have written to share their thoughts about our mother. The three of us dearly miss her, and your words are a great comfort.

I am deeply grateful to all who have written with remembrances of our Mother. You just have no idea how much it has touched us. Thank you for helping us honor and remember her so well.

Thanks to every one who has posted memories and condolences re my wonderful mater and magistra. If interested, check out other comments at the Claybar Funeral Home website. She has left an ongoing legacy in her students, family, and all whose lives she touched.

I remain indebted to her strong teaching to this day. My own students get a kick out of hearing me do football cheers in Latin. More importantly, what I learned about language from studying Latin with her has served me well in so many different ways. Pax et lux Domini tecum, Magistra.

So sorry to hear about Mrs. Emmons. I remember seeing her in the hallway at school just like it was yesterday.

Magistra, a wonderful lady, mentor, friend, Mrs. Emmons was all. It is a privilege to have been her student.

Mrs. Emmons was a great teacher and she made Latin fun for us. One of my fondest memories was our Latin Club's Roman banquet where we wore sheets, I mean, togas; and recited various passages in Latin -- even Shakepeare's Julis Ceasar classic..."Friends, Romans, Countrymen. Lend me your ears..." She so made Latin a living language for us all. Thank you!!!

Mrs. Emmons introduced me to Latin and the Junior Classical League, better known as Latin Club, in the 1970s. While we were having fun, she was slipping in lessons that serve me well 30+ years later - from writing legal briefs to figuring out crossword puzzle clues. She was a great teacher. We will always remember Mrs. Emmons.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of Mrs. Emmons, but happy to hear that she lived well and had such a long life. She was a great lady and teacher. To this day l get a laugh thinking about the Latin joke she posted on the chalkboard: "piggo, piggere, squeale, gruntus".
