JARVI, Ethel May - Of Flint, age 76, died Friday, September 12, 2003 at Crestmont Nursing Care Center. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Chaplin Don Stone of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the Odyssey Hospice or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Visitation 12Noon-8PM Monday at the funeral home. May was born in Laurium, Michigan on May 6, 1927, the daughter of the late James and Ethel Perkin. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1945. May married Eino 'Mike' Jarvi, in 1946. She was employed by the Flint School System for 16 years, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, family and friends. May was a member of East Side Seniors and Davison Seniors. Surviving are 2 sons, Tim and wife Kathy of Louisville, Kentucky, Dennis and wife Vicki of Fenton; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jamie) Bair, Jeffrey, Jason, Joshua, and Jeremy; great- granddaughter, Brooke Bair; May was also preceded in death by her husband, Mike; sisters, Selina Thom and Rebecca Bayles; brothers, William and John Perkin.
