Ethel (Vounatso) Nowacki, 99, wife of the late Henry "Hank" Nowacki, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Avery Heights. She was born in Hartford, CT on April 27, 1926, to the late Stratis and Evanthia "Mary" (Tyropolis) Vounatso. Ethel was a member of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in Hartford, CT and was a resident of Hartford all her life. She worked at the Travelers Insurance Company. Ethel was a member of the Senior Center at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church and the South End Senior Center. After moving to Avery Heights, she participated in all of the activities with bingo and word games being her favorites.
Ethel is survived by her loving daughter, Leslie N. Traver and her husband Adams of Gales Ferry. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry C. Nowacki; brothers John Vounatso and Dr. William Vaun; sisters Marcey Antonaksis, Katherine Maliszewski, Irene Turek and Angeline Cofer, along with several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and niece. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Sally Vaun and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Ethel will be held Monday, July 28, 2025 at 11am at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, CT. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Monday from 10am to 11am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ethel’s memory may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
