ETTYCE H. MOORE

I have fond memories and often think about Mrs. Moore who was my 2nd grade teacher at John F. Cook Elemetary School in 1952. She taught me well which inspired me to even play like I was a teacher with childhood friends. As I grew up, I always wanted to meet her and thank her but to no avail.
I did visit her church once and shared my experience with Rev. Moore. I was deeply saddened to her about her passing. May she forever rest in peace until that GREAT AWAKENING DAY. I send condolences...

Remembering this giant of an educator, Christian leader, wife, mother and friend. Rest in peace.

I have fond memories of Dr. Moore since supporting the 19th Street Music ministry during the tenure of the late Donald register and Milton Lespere. Her support for the Arts was always noteworthy. I also shared with her at the George Washungton University's Education Dept. where we both held the position of Supervisor for Student Interns. May her family continue to find comfort in the memories they have of her Christian beliefs and values and with her commitment to education and children.

This woman was instrumental in my collegiate and professional life; and pushed me to finish my degree from Howard University. I owe her my life and much gratitude--and I continue to push forward, because I know had it not been for her...there may not be a me.

I visited Howard University last week and as I stood outside the School of Education, telling my children about the wonderful professors of HU, I fondly spoke of Dr. Ettyce Moore. She was not only my professor from 1996-1998, but she was also my "soul saver". Dr. Moore had discernment out of this world and quickly noticed beneath the night club attire that I often wore to class that I was a church girl, trying to run away from my divine calling. Rev. Moore, our prayers are with you at this very difficult time. Ettyce took me home every day from Kelly Miller JHS, and I always thanked her by giving her 'homemade rolls'.
