Eugene Brady Obituary

ANNANDALE, Va. -- Eugene “Gene� Francis Brady, 53, of Annandale, Va., died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, in Annandale.

Born in Washington, D.C., Gene resided in northern New Jersey as well as several western states. He was a tax manager for various companies in New Jersey, Virginia, and the western United States. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, Gene also enjoyed hockey and was a Washington Capitals fan. He loved fishing and camping and could be found with a pipe in his mouth working on a project. His family describes him as a man of great character who could be relied upon in times of need.

Gene is survived by his parents, James F. and Marianne (nee Sanders) Brady, of Sparta; his siblings, Michael Brady and wife, Ann, of Roxbury, Patricia Hand and husband, James, of Bangor, Pa., Tim Brady and wife, Audrey, of Hamburg, Cathy Schalk and husband, Charles, of Flemington, Susan Milcsik and husband, Ken, of Edison, Elizabeth Gerhart and husband, David, of Urban, Md., and Maureen Walsh and husband, Brian, of New Milford, Conn. He is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews, as well as several good friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church in Sparta. Interment will follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery in Green Township. Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.

Memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10004. Online condolences may be offered at www.smithmccrackenfuneralhome.com.
