I knew Gene through ALCTS, SCCTP and NASIG. I always enjoyed talking to him at conferences and appreciated his wry sense of humor. He was excellent at delivering the "Worst Serial Title Changes" awards back in the day. He had a wonderful deadpan delivery as the library community poked fun at what we tongue-in-cheek called "silly and unnecessary title changes." I will miss Gene. My deepest sympathies to Gene's family and friends.

Gene was a marvelous cataloger, teacher, and most especially, person. He was my CONSER mentor for a few years and always provided with the help that I needed. At professional meetings, we always managed to spend time with each other. I greatly appreciated Gene. My sincerest condolences to his partner and family.
