Passed away peacefully with family by his side Thursday, December 5, 2024, at his home; age 91 years. Eugene was born on October 20, 1933 in Frankenmuth, MI to the late Harold and Erna Dinse. He was married to Lydia Engelhardt on May 2, 1953; she survives him.


Eugene honorably served in the U.S Army in active duty and the reserves. He was employed by Pochelon Lincoln Mercury as a mechanic until his retirement. After retirement, he was a bus driver for the Frankenmuth School District. Eugene was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Frankenmuth and Bridgeport Gun Club, serving on its board. He enjoyed polka music and was an avid Ford Nascar fan. He was a loyal Lions fan and enjoyed watching the games with his family.


Surviving besides his wife Lydia are: daughter Dawn (John) Horst of Fenton, MI; son David Dinse of TN; two grandsons, Matthew Dinse and Justin Horst; very special great-granddaughter Lucy Dinse; brother Ralph (Sharon) Dinse; two nephews, Brian and Dennis; and niece Keely.


Besides his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Pankey and nephew Paul Pankey. 


Memorial service will take place Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Genesee, Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Rev. Patrick Ernst will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Eugene’s family will receive visitors on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
