Not sure what to say?

I now live in Gettysburg, PA. I was a police officer in Bklyn but lived in Floral Park. I would meet Gene at the scene of a fire. He was a gentlemen.

Captain Drum took on the task.

Eugene was a captain who worked with his men because he believed in them, and their capabilities.

There are people you meet in your lifetime that make a everlasting impression on you. I was lucky enough to have worked for him as a young Fireman and he treated me with respect. I was also smart enough to pay attention to his advice and lessons about work and just life in general. Today, I am saddened to hear the news of his passing. He was always positive and encouraging to me.
A very kind and gentle man.
A great man that I will always remember. Thank You Capt. Drum
God Bless...

It was a great time, the years Gene and I spent together on Knickerbocker Avenue as Lieutenants while they burned Bushwick around us. A great fire officer, a good friend and a true gentleman.

A gentleman and a great Fire Officer.Rest in Peace brother.

My condolences and thoughts are with you.

God bless Capt. Drum and his family. Captain Drum was my first captain when I was assigned to Engine 274 in 1985. Thanks for helping me start my career with the FDNY. A great fire officer and a true gentleman.

We remember good times at Montauk and upstate. Eugene's wonderful advice on home improvements were always appreciated as well.Love and deepest sympathy, Doreen and Chris
