Not sure what to say?

Gene was a good friend since his days at the D & C. I was shocked when a card was returned to me in the mail today. I am truly saddened to learn of his death. May he rest in peace.

Condolences to all of Gene's friends in Houston and across America. I agree with Rosalie below, that "Duffster" could have written the words in the obit above. Glad I got to speak to him at Christmas and catch up with CFB season and my LSU Tigers. I will miss those catch up calls. Gene was one of the good guys. RIP my friend.

I had to share one more thought about Gene. Thought about him a lot yesterday after hearing he had passed. Who wrote the obituary? It sounded like Gene himself. I smiled. It was him. I would challenge him about getting a cell phone for years. Nope. Don't need it. He loved visiting, renewing acquaintances, traveling, sports, and generally connecting with people. His obituary summarized his spirit perfectly!

I tried to call him today. How very sad. We talked every couple of months. High school. Actually went on a date! Have stayed in touch all these years. Will dearly miss our talks. Rest in peace sweet friend.
