EUGENE EISNER Obituary

EISNER--Eugene, 91, of Manhattan, "The Mayor of 57th Street," died on July 3, 2014. He gave himself that name because during his time as a pharmacist on that major city thoroughfare his clients were among Gotham's glitterati. A graduate of Columbia University's pharmacy school, he was a dedicated professional and went the extra step with his customers in the age before chain drug stores. A Veteran of World War II, he served as a cryptographer in North Africa. His daughter, Robin Eisner, will always remember him and continue his legacy of being "hungry to learn (HTL)," of sharing knowledge and of cherishing his beloved city's hometown newspaper, The New York Times.
