I've known Eugene since that fateful day we met at Mary Ross Taylor's bookstore on Bissonnet where Ntozake Shange was signing For Colored Girls...book. We both had just moved to Houston (in my case, back to Houston) and he was surprised that I knew who Romare Bearden was and from then on the friendship was off and running. We've connected at various art scenes/fairs/shows in NY/LA/Chicago/Houston including coproducing a celebration for Margaret Burroughs in Houston. He was a great running...

Heartfelt sympathies to the family and all of Eugene's friends, Just found out about the death of my Dear friend today in Alabama! Heaven accepted a true angel that day , My family and I will miss him so much, He taught me so much about Art as a Living legacy and wealth-building tool as I look at my major collection that he steered me to collect, I will never forget how he befriended me and my family through the years and shared our lives.
