Alison, I am so sorry to learn, especially so late, of Gene's passing. (I was at the time, recovering from emergency surgery to straighten the crooked leg that I know you noticed at Cornerstone). You have been unforgettably supportive to me at critical times, wishing that you find the the peace and pride that many great memories can bring.

What a wonderful tribute to a phenomenal human being. Thank you for putting these terrific details together so nicely, and we miss Gene and have the most loving memories of his grace and intellect and humor. Here's to a life well lived and may his energy and creativity be felt forever.

Alison...I was very sorry to hear of Gene's passing. He truly lived his life so fully...and made everyone he met feel important. He was so lucky to have his family and especially you, by his side. Sending prayers and loving thoughts.

Allison,
I was so sorry to read about Gene. I have often thought about our meeting in Elizabeth Park several years ago. There was something very special about that day and I have continued to think about both of you...I am so sorry that you have had so much loss. I hope our paths will cross again.

Dear Alison and family,

I am so, so sorry for your loss! I will always remember how brilliant and interesting Gene was, and how much my students enjoyed his visit to Hall High School, where he discussed his book about Chick Austin. We all learned so much that day! I wish I knew what to say to make you feel better about your loss. I know that Gene was a beautiful person, loving husband and father, and that the world is dimmer without his light.

Sincerely,

I am so sorry to learn of Gene's passing - and so grateful to be able to learn so much about his amazing life. I knew Gene in high school, and if I had thought about it, I might have predicted such a career -- he was truly a unique and special person even then. My heartfelt sympathies to his family.

Dear Alison and Family
Lee and I are so very sad to learn of Gene’s passing. Gene was such a special person- his work in the arts was amazing.
We remember many nice times sitting together at soccer games with our girls, cheering them on! And some very nice dinners with the two of you, too.

Please let us know how we can be supportive -our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love Lee and Ellen Blair

My deepest sympathies to all of Eugene's family and friends. His passing is not only a loss to you, but to the greater community as well. I remember him well from when he taught at Hartford College for Women, where I was a young administrator with duties that included arranging for the audio-visual equipment he wanted to use for every class, which was just about unheard of in those days. Students just loved his class and found it so interesting and engaging! A special hug to his HCW alumna...
