Gene contributed so much to our Cook County community. I most appreciated his books on Grand Marais' history and his commitment to bringing the Community Center/ YMCA from dream to reality. I'll miss him.

Committed, thought-full, kind and gentle. Without his leadership there would be no CCTA. I always enjoyed working with him at the CCTA

I knew Gene since I was a kid, running around the Bethel gym. He was loved as a coach and teacher and, later a North Shore businessman. He impacted many people in a powerful way with his life of devotion to his Lord.

In his day Gene had the most wicked hook shot in the game.

Gene was a wonderful person to know. He dealt with his physical limits with such courage. Of course he was a great contributor to the written history off Grand Marais.

Sorry for your loss. I never knew him, but my sister and brother-in-,law worked for him for 18 years and then bought Blue Water. Thanks for all the memories.
