Not sure what to say?

Condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Ella and family. Gene's guidance and loving concern for thousands of school children for so many years continues to this day to have an impact on their lives. He was a widely known and respected model of a teacher who made a differrence. Austin G. Paulnack Lazaro Ramos

My son attended Danforth when it offered the extended day program. From kindergarten to 6th grade and with all the wonders of extended day programming Mr Hannah was truly a leader, educator and child advocate. My sincere sympathies to his beloved family and all who knew him. May you rest in peace Mr. Hannah.

His paddle was legend, and if you were to see and feel it, you never forgot it. Believe me I know first hand 50 years later. Truth be told he was as fair as he was firm. Thank God for you sir, Rest in Peace.

My condolences to the Hannah family. I taught for many years in his building. He was a great principal. He was firm with children & staff but always caring and friendly. His educational ideas were sensible. I was hoping he would become superintendent. Sincerely, Sue Lipari

To Ella and family, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Eugene. Holding you in our hearts at this time of mourning. Melvin & Elease Askew

I used to go into his office at Danforth back in the early 80's. He used to say Jamie, come eat lunch with me. I always remember that. I talk about him often to friends. He was a good man. Always involved. Kept me out of trouble. Hed catch me on Kennedy st and say get in here boy. Lol. We lost a good one. Im sorry for your loss.

My condolences on your family´s loss. He was my principal from many years ago. His kindness and passion for guiding kids on a great path will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace I´m certain that his memory will live on through the lives he impacted.

Sending prayers to the family he was my principal at Danforth school elementary and middle I´ve been around him for many years of my life very nice man and didn´t play about his students and we got Paddled when we did wrong. Things we will never forget about growing up.

My condolences to the family of Mr. Eugene Hannah Sr. Mr. Hannah was a historical figure and a positive role model, who happened to be also a man of color and a man of African decent. As a child growing up on the Southside of Syracuse, New York, Mr. Hannah (outside of the Late Pator / Reverend Enoch of the Pentecost Baptist Church) was my first exposure to a strong Black man. He was Firm, Fair and Consistent. He was a true Educator and he Loved the children and the community he served. He...
