Eugene V. Hunter, Jr., 


72 of Darragh passed away at 11:55 pm Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at his residence. Eugene was born on August 7, 1952 in Mount Pleasant, a son of the late Eugene V. Hunter Sr. and Pearl Irene (Johnson) Ray, who passed away in 2001 and 1985 respectively. He married Debra S. (Grimm) Hunter on July 23, 1999, and she survives him.


 



Eugene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. He worked as a repairman in the Appliance business for many years and was a veteran of the US Marines, serving as a Private during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service medal. Eugene was a member of the East Huntingdon Fireman’s Club, the Standard Shaft Citizens Club, and the Darragh American Legion Post #53. He enjoyed playing billiards and working on cars. 


 



Eugene will be sadly missed by his loving family; his wife of 25 years, Debra S. (Grimm) Hunter; his seven children, Allen Swank, Christy Moloney and husband Brian, Eugene V. Hunter III, Charles Jason Hunter, Staci Foor and husband Chris, Ginger Burket and husband Wil, and Lori Smith; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his three sisters, Sandra Phelps and husband Harry, Donna Kay Nicholson and husband Clarence Jr., and Eva Marie Gaffney and husband Wayne; numerous nieces and nephews including his special niece, Chicago Lynn Himes.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Eva Jean (Cramer) Hunter in 2014; great grandson, Shawn Swank; his three brothers George, Kenneth, and Robert Hunter; and his sister, Susan Crise.


 



Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 2-6 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 6 PM Friday with his brother-in-law, Pastor Harry Phelps officiating. Full military honors will be bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard prior to services. Memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society @ www.cancer.org.
