Not sure what to say?

Ed our deepest sympathies and prayers are with you and your family. I remember your dad as a more perfect version of idealized TV dads. Just a joy to be around. I remember he wondered what he would do if I ever came to argue a grade in his math class. He would always strive so hard determining what was right, and even more, good. He knew his subjects so well he would bend over backwards to find some kernel of possibility in the most wild ideas. One time he gave me partial credit for a...

Hello Jane: I don't know if you remember me, Connie Petersen Knop, from Bradford High. I clearly remember you from those years and also Gene, who was in Latin classes with me. I wanted to send you my condolences but also my admiration for all the Gene accomplished, professionally and personally. I am sure that his passing has left a deep void in all your lives. COURAGE!!

I grew up next door to Gene for the first 12 years of my life. I have fond memories of the annual Christmas party at their house. He was so wonderful to the neighborhood kids, always willing to join in and play with us. He taught me how to throw a football. The world was better for having him in it.

We surprised each other by our willingness to help each other with a hard but rewarding task. We became fast friends, helped by our mutual Wisconsin roots. Over the years we came to know each others' families, share tools, landscape, and just get along better than most neighbors could imagine. We'd cut each...

I remember Ed inviting me to a family outing with his dad to go walleye fishing on Lake Erie. There were five of us crammed into a 14 foot fishing boat. Lake Erie is not very deep in those parts, so we went out maybe half a mile or so. After catching a few walleye (and some catfish that put up a great fight) a storm started to roll in. As we headed back to shore it seemed that every cabin cruiser in the area was crisscrossing in front of us while we tried to weave safely clear. Our little...

I remember Prof. Krause both from Math for Elementary School Teachers and from the time I worked in the Math Department. He was a great teacher and always friendly and considerate to the staff in the department. He´ll certainly be missed.
