Eugene Lofdahl, 71 of Warrenton, Va. Went to be with the Lord on Sept. 18, 2004 at his home after a long illness. He was born June 13, 1933 in Bellingham, Washington. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle and did Post Graduate work at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He was employed by Atlantic Research Corporation for 32 years as an engineer in the Rocket Science Field. Mr. Lofdahl was a deacon at the Warrenton Assembly of God Church for 37 years. He was a member of the Gideons International for 35 years. He was also an active member of his community having served on the Fauquier County Board of Zoning Appeals for 15 years. When P. B. Smith Elementary School was opening, he became active in its P. T. O. group and was an active volunteer in the life of the school. The idea of the school's Fun Fair was his. These events then were begun in other schools throughout the county and he helped them to get started as well. Other interests of Gene were in playing many rounds of golf with his friends over the years, and woodworking in his workshop building shelves or cabinets and any project his grandchildren desired. He also loved gardening and tending to his yard and helping his wife with her many flower gardens. He will be remembered for his unmatched wit and his love of telling stories and jokes. His words will forever stay in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have been entertained by him. The family offers special apprecation and thanks to those who had a part in caring for and honoring his wishes to be at home during his last days. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years- Arlene Lofdahl; two daughters- Sandy Williams, Warrenton, and Marilyn Johnson, Sumerduck, Va.; two sons- Alan Lofdahl, Centreville, Va. And Gary Lofdahl of Purcellville, Va.; his mother- Alyce Lofdahl, Ferndale, WA; one sister- Maudine Fee, Vancouver, BC and eight grandchildren- Lauren, Amanda, Erin and Anna Lofdahl, Kyle and Amy Williams, Tyler and Kathryn Lofdahl. The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 PM on Monday at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 11:00 AM at Warrenton Assembly of God Church by Dr. Hurley Shortt. Interment will be at Bright View Cemetery, Warrenton.
