Not sure what to say?

So shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. He was a beloved professor, advisor, and friend at Brevard College. I attended Wofford College because of his advice. I thought of him often after losing touch. He was a generous, gentle, compassionate man. I am so sorry for your loss.

Gene was one of my closest friends at Wofford and at Yale Divinity School. We shared many late night conversations about serious subjects and many times of laughter as well. He is someone I had not been in touch with in recent years but a person I remember fondly. A dear friend and a great loss for me and the world.

So sad to hear this. I knew him in junior high school and went to a Peter, Paul, and Mary concert with him in the 9th grade. He was a sweet, sweet man.

So sad to hear of his passing. He was a great teacher and person. Enjoyed knowing him at Brevard College! May God bless!

Cathy and family, so very sorry to hear this news. Gene was always so good to me back at All Souls when I was transitioning to the Episcopal Church. A kind and gentle soul.

Gene was a dear friend and mentor for many summers at Camp Green Cove. Gene lit up the room with his sense of humor and words of wisdom. He will be missed.
