Not sure what to say?

Graypa/Boppa with his Granddaugthers

Dear Dad-
Well, it's the first Christmas without you here. The thought of you not being here for Christmas Day weighs on my heart. I know that last year we didn't celebrate Christmas Day together but as we grew up, Christmas Day on Berteau was the way we always did it. I can remember going to that apartment every Christmas Day and never wanting to leave. I loved all the time we shared together and the conversations we had. Even if it was about nothing. Christmas has been hard for me...

Today is Christmas Eve and it will be our second major holiday without you here. I know that tonight and tomorrow will be very sad days for your kids (their spouses), your terri and of course all of the grandchildren.

The two youngest grandsons will be celebrating their very first christmas tonight/tomorrow and unfortunately they wont get to share in one of the happiest times - spending the day with their Graypa/Boppa.

I believe I got to part-take in about 7-8 Christmas...

Dear Ms. Mc Dermott,
Please accept my deepest sympathies in the loss of your loved one. I taught some of Gene's kids, and knew the others. He was a wonderful father.
In a recent conversation with someone other than Gene, I was told how happy he was with you in Florida. My immediate thought was, "How wonderful. He deserves to be happy." Sadly, it ended too soon.
May it comfort you to know that he will always be with you.
You will remain in my prayers.
Trish O'Shea

Having taught Ryan and Marty, and having wacthed Molly, Timmy and Terry grow, I saw Gene as a dedicated father. I recall eating with him at the Mc Donald's across from Woodson Regional Library on one of the many field trips he smilingly joined us for. His love and devotion to his children was ovbious. As a teacher, I aprreciated it. As fellow parent, I admired it.
There's no question, there were difficult times, but both he and your Mom raised wonderful kids into adulthood.
Sadly, he...

Gene,
It has been a week since your passing and I finally got some time to sit down and collect my thoughts. I miss you and thanks for the memories!!!!
Gene was a great man. A man that I respected and cared for as much as my own father. We all got to see him on Sunday afternoon and he was just happy and excited to see his kids and grandkids. Just like any other time we saw each other he told me "not to cross the stateline" because I was bad mouthing the cubs and their fans (gotta do...

I was very sorry to learn of Gene's passing. Gene was a neighbor friend during the 60's in the "old neighborhood". I have many good memories of our time and laughs together. My sympathies to Gene's entire family.

Danger was no stranger to a Gresham Ranger. (006th.District) For all the brothers were valient. I,ll see you at the next thin blue line.

Dear Terri and Gene's children and family,
I groaned when I read of Gene's death in the Tribune...he was such a good and decent human being. I knew him from our days in Gresham in the '70's and when I think of him I picture a peaceful face and a smile: Not a bad way to be remembered! He enriched the earth---and our lives---and when (fresh off the golf course, from what I hear) he stood before his God, I imagine God was glad He created him...a life well-lived. At the Police Mass on 10...
