Dear Phyllis and Family,
Alan & I send you our sincere sympathy. We respected & enjoyed Gene a great deal, as did our parents, and pretty much everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. I thoroughly enjoyed some chats with Gene while he coffeed at HyVee, but not nearly as often as I wish I had! Such a genuine & sincere & friendly man. He loved people & they could feel it. His interest in people was confirmed when I read that he personally reached out to people with hand written...

I am so sad to here of Gene's passing. He was a wonderful man that was respected in Ankeny for many years. I also have memories of younger years when Gene, Jack and myself would travel to car shows!!! Always a class act!!!! He will be dearly missed!!!
