Not sure what to say?

We know Gene and Pat through the Bird Dog Club. We would only see them once a year at the annual game dinner, but they were the highlight of the evening for us. We enjoyed their humor, their company and had great conversations. We will miss Gene very much.

Gene and his wife Pat were wonderful leaders and ambassadors for the Pioneer Valley Yacht Club where we first met them. Gene's kindness in showing us the ropes as new members and providing Bud with helpful hints on navigating the Connecticut River were much appreciated. He will be sorely missed by all.

Gene was a truly inspired person. He was a natural leader. He joy for life made everyone around him happy. Abby and I will always be grateful for his help as we learned to sail. We all will miss him.

Pete and Abby Thomsen Longmeadow, MA

We were sadden by the news of Genes' passing. We spent many years playing softball, golf and sailing. Our sailing trip to the Virgin Islands with Gene & Pat was memorable.

When I first met Gene I was 17 yrs old, starting my first insurance job out of high school. After a few yrs, I left for another position and lost touch, only to bump into him and Pat again about 15 yrs or so ago at a PVYC Super Bowl party. He was the same great, witty guy I remembered and not a bad pool player, either. I will miss his humor, his hugs, I will miss him.

I knew Gene for only a short while, (10yrs or so) we were fellow members of the Western Mass Bird Dog Club. I have fond memories of him down at our bridge throwing decoys for his dog to retrieve. I always enjoyed his company while shooting Sporting Clays as well as other club activities. Gene was well liked and always had a kind word. I will miss him and the Club will miss him! My Condolences to his family.

I grew up down the street from Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill. He was a good man and a good neighbor. My condolences to his family.

Gene will be greatly missed by everyone at the PVYC. Rarely in a lifetime do you get to meet and know a "great" person, Gene was a great person!
