Not sure what to say?

President Olsen was my Mission President in 1970-71. He worked harder than anyone and was a model leader in every way. His Spanish was flawless and his devotion to the work was never questioned. He was kind and gentle, but firm and resolute and loyal to the last breath. We loved him and Sister Olsen--even though her remedy for all ills was hard work and those nasty little
enterovioformo pills! He was a true warrior and we are better for knowing him!

First, Eugene Olsen was my Patriarch in San Diego. He was already a beacon in my life then. Then I served my mission in the La Paz Bolivia Mission from 1980 to 1982 and he was the Regional Representative, and for one month, our acting Mission President. I was so very happy they were there at the same time I was. He and his wife were there for me when I needed them the most. I am so grateful for the love and teaching both he and his wife always demonstrated. He will always be a beacon in my life.

We grew up in San Diego and had the privileged of knowing and loving the Olsen's. They loved Gary's parents and were always coming to visit. Gary and some of our children were given their Patriarchal Blessings by Eugene. We love both of them and are happy that he will now be with his sweet love, Rae.

I had the privilege of living with the Olsen family for a whole year as an exchange student in 1975-76. Since I only been baptized app 2 weeks before arriving in San Diego as a mere 16-year old girl, I could not have asked for a better start on my newly chosen path as a devoted latter day saint. Brother Olsen remains the most spiritual man I have ever met! This little girl was like spunge - how I loved the spiritual discussions we had during that year! And how impressed I was with your memory...

Our condolences to the Olsen family. Patriarch Olsen gave me my Patriarchal Blessing, and it is a treasure to me. I will never forget the beautiful words he spoke on that day. It was an honor to know him and grow up with his grandchildren.

Thank you for your entries. Please use this site to write not only condolences to the family, but any memories you may have of my grandfather, Eugene Olsen! I know many of those who knew him best live in San Diego, South America, or other parts of Utah. Please share your memories of him here! Thank you!

Sincerely,
Lori Olsen

Our condolences are offered to the Olsen Family. We loved Eugene and Rae and enjoyed visiting with them when then lived in San Diego. We feel it a great honor to have know them and to be a part of the family in the form of in-laws to their grandson Benjamin and Spring Clark. May the Lord's comfort be with you at this time. We wish could attend the funeral.
