Big Man, Tiny Dog
When Eugene J. Raggio said he was taking his dog, Tinkerbell, out for a walk, it meant driving her around in the car through their Staten Island neighborhood. "Big man, tiny dog, we used to say," said his daughter, Melissa Raggio, recalling her tall father doting on his three-pound Yorkshire terrier. About the only place Mr. Raggio did not take the dog was to the World Trade Center, where he worked as a building operations supervisor for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey since the day the towers opened.

"He absolutely loved those buildings," his daughter said. "The people he worked with were his second family. He was even good to the homeless people who hung around the tower."

Her father, who was 55, called his wife, Francine, just after the first plane hit the north tower. There was no question that he would stay to help. It was his job. "If he hadn't been working that day, he would have been just as affected if the towers had collapsed and he hadn't been there to help," his daughter said. "His life would never have been the same."

Not sure what to say?

Every time I see a clock, phone or watch display 911 the memory of Geno comes to mind 23 yrs later, he watched over me like a second father till we had a falling out over my dumb behavior on the strike line in 96...you don't realize what you have till its gone...maybe it's time to learn my lesson and grow up. RIP Geno

In Memory
With Honor & Respect.

We send our heartfelt thoughts of sympathy to your family. Our thoughts can never remove the deep pain that happens when we lose someone dearly loved but may they show that after all of these years others still do care. Daily may God continue to give the needed comfort and strength. Eugene touched others in a positive way and will always be sadly missed.

Dear Gene

What can I say that already has not been said already. A few of my greatest memories of you is when you took Me and Patrick to the towers and we walked with you and how happy you were to be there on a Saturday none the less......and you took us to the roof and how you wanted us to go on the washer machine. Going away with you to Pleasant Acres was so much fun never saw anyone eat like you did there was 12 of us at the table and who didn't eat theirs you did. You...

Today at the P.A. Memorial Service a poem by Henry Scott Holland titled Death is Nothing at All was read.

"Call me by my old familiar name. Let my name be ever the household word that it was.. Why should I be out of mind because I'm out of sight? Whatever we were to each other we still are... I'm somewhere very near. Just around the corner.

All is well."

You have and always will be on my mind and in my heart. Very rarely does a day go by that your name is...

Austin Police K9 Raggio named in honor of Eugene Raggio. Today we honor Eugene and every other brave soul lost on 9/11. Today we are paying our respects at the Texas State Cemetery at the 9/11 memorial. There are two steel beams from the towers which form a memorial on the grounds.
