Dear family of Dr. Eugene Reed,

I am a fellow product of Camp Ritchie of Eugene's and I was very touched to receive, only now, the Monterey Herald's obituary notice of his death on Oct. 29, 2008, thanks to Dan Gross.

Hence, I can write only very belatedly that, besides being a fellow Ritchieite of Eugene's, I was delighted to see a fair amount of him when we both had war-related jobs in New York City, and were able to meet for lunch.
