Not sure what to say?

Think of you often Gene!

Our neighborhood will not be the same without Mr. Scribner. What a remarkable man. He helped us identify all the plantings in our yard when we first moved in. He had a sharp eye for wildlife and kept us up-to-date on all the animal sightings in the neighborhood so that we could protect our children and pets. He taught us the history of Quaker Hill. He was a great role model and encourager to our children. He even befriended my mother, who lives out of town, as they compared notes on their...

What a loss of such a wonderful neighbor and human being. We miss him.

After all these years, Gene and I still kept in touch throughout my many moves with my husband in the Navy. We worked together at the Office of Construction. Gene was a loving, giving, sweet, gentle man and I will miss him terribly. One of the kindest men on earth! God's blessings to his family. I remember when he bought his house and we had talked shortly after he realized he was born/raised in that house. He made the commented that when he died, he'd be in that house still and would have...

GENE WAS ONE OF THE KINDEST AND NICEST OF MEN ON GODS GREEN EARTH. I GREW UP KNOWING HIM AS A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY. HE AND MY DAD LOVED TO JUST TALK ABOUT EVERYTHING. HE WOULD COME INTO OUR SHOP AND LOOK AT FOREIGN COINS FOR HOURS. HE WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR HIS FRIENDS. HE COUNTED MANY PEOPLE AS FRIENDS AND I KNOW THAT HE WAS A FRIEND TO ME AND MY FAMILY. REST IN PEACE GENE. SAY HI TO MY DAD AND MY BROTHER UP THERE. GO WITH GOD MY FRIEND.

We are sorry to here about Gene's passing. Our thoughts are with the Scribner family at this difficult time. I enjoyed my talks with Gene about the neighborhood, the family, and old stories of Quaker Hill. He was very kind , and will be missed on Uncas Ave.

My Condolences to The Scribner Family.

I was saddened to hear of Gene's passing. He was a real fixture on Uncas Ave. I will miss seeing him in the morning when I return from my walks and chatting with him as the day began for both of us. He was always willing to offer a helping hand and to keep an eye on the neighborhood. My sympathy to his entire family.

To the Scribner Family,
It was so sad for us to have heard about Gene's passing.
He was a real cornerstone in the neighborhood. If we were on vacation, he would always volunteer to watch our house. He called us one rainy night to tell us he had picked up a package from our front steps because he was afraid it might get wet before we came home. He was always happy to share some friendly advice about gardening or house upkeep.
We will miss him very much.
