Gene was my boss at a Safeway store when I was in high school. He managed several of us scalawags and brought us together as a team and made it fun to work. When I was a junior in high school my father passed away and Gene became my mentor and someone I could always talk to or bounce thoughts off of. I will be for every grateful for Gene's mentorship and caring ways. Always a friend.

Gene was always a thoughtful and gracious host. He welcomed me in his home many times. Mom and I shared some especially good times with Gene and Rose in Las Vegas. I love road trips. One of my favorites was with Gene and Dad. We drove to South Dakota and had many adventures and experiences along the way. That trip taught me more about Gene and Dad than I ever could imagine.
