Not sure what to say?

From the time I met him he was such a awesome guy. So sorry for your loss and prayers go out to Karen and her mom and the rest of the family. Jack...

Jean:
Gene was a great inspiration and help during my time on the CCOA board of directors. As we know he enjoyed golf and I always looked forward to his thank you note after each annual meeting. We will miss him BUT will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

He cared about people and that made all the difference.

On behalf of the entire Maddox Family, our condolences to the Starkey family. We all have the deepest respect for Dr. Starkey and all that he has done for Cal Poly and the industry. He was a class act and our family has lost a dear friend. I just know that Dad and Gene are enjoying a drink, discussing cows and the university that meant so much to them both. Our prayers are with you Jean and the family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Jean - Love you, your Lil Sis

Dear Jean, Linda, Gene & Karen,
Please accept our deepest sympathy. We were also saddened to read of Gene's passing. It was a privilege to know him.

May God Bless the Starkey Family. I am blessed to have known Gene for many years through his brother, Frank, my neighbor who has also been a huge blessing in my life for many years. Frank, your brother, Gene, is at Peace. Love & Prayers

My thoughts and prayers to the Starkey family on the passing of Gene, he will be missed by all that knew him. A truly pleasant and generous man, from helping students of the Dairy Science department to the Directors of CCOA. I can honestly say that my life is better for having known Dr.Starkey!

My many years of friendship with Gene involved our connection with the CA Creamery Operators Association's activities. He was a wise man with wit and a quick laugh. Some people make a difference in this world, Dr. Gene Starkley was one of them.
