Captain Eugene C. Stearns

Gene was a great man.

Gene was a wonderful example to all around him during his years at Foss. I was a young and admiring junior manager working with Gene when he was putting together the Alaska tug and barge fleet for the construction of the Alaska oil fields and pipeline in the mid-70's and beyond. He was a skillful negotiator and deal maker. His expertise was admirable. He always treated me with respect.
